I have cake leftovers. Now what?
HOW TO FREEZE LEFT OVER CAKE
You may ask yourself, “Why would I have left overs?”. In some cases (VERY rare cases), you’ll have left over cake and you may not want to waste it. Here’s an easy guide to freeze your left over cake so can have cake anytime you want! (For up to 3 months)
1) Refrigerate any left over cake for at least 20 minutes (more if it’s a large cake) to make sure the buttercream is hard before you start handling it.
2) Ideally, you want to keep the cake as whole as possible to prevent exposing any cake to air. Buttercream acts like an insulator and prevents your cake from drying out. But most of the time it’s not possible to keep the cake whole and cutting it into slices is much more convenient when you want one slice at a time. In any case, be sure to tightly cover any exposed cake with plastic wrap. Remember, air is NOT the cake’s friend!
3) Once all exposed cake parts are covered in plastic wrap, make sure to wrap cake or cake slices again at least 3 times with the plastic wrap.
4) Once wrapped in plastic wrap, you can either wrap each piece in aluminum foil or place in a freezer safe bag. You can also wrap or freezer bag multiple pieces together. Then, place in your freezer.
5) If you don’t plan to eat the cake within 2 weeks, wrap each piece in aluminum foil and then place in the freezer safe bag. This will ensure your cake will stay fresh and moist for up to 3 months.
HOW TO EAT FROZEN CAKE
